Description
1970s McGuire of San Francisco Rattan and Bamboo Coffee Table
An iconic piece by McGuire of San Francisco, this coffee or cocktail table features an intricate double-square (octagonal) base design crafted from bamboo and rattan. The intersecting bamboo poles are secured with McGuire’s signature rawhide lacing, exemplifying the brand’s artisanal craftsmanship. Eight solid brass cloverleaf-shaped caps finish the tops of the base, each with a rich, naturally aged patina. A brass maker’s plaque reading “McGuire San Francisco” is affixed to the frame. The table is paired with a 42" round grey glass top, 1/2" thick with a flat polished edge, adding a sleek, modern contrast to the organic base. Condition: Good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. Brass caps have a darkened patina that enhances the character of the piece. This coffee or cocktail table is on display at the Gallery at 200 Lex at the New York Design Center.
