Description
A truly elegant four-drawer walnut desk with original glass top which is attributed to the Bolognese architect and designer, Melchiorre Bega. This sculptural wooden desk boasts beautiful lines, with angled tapered legs and polished brass sabots on each of its eight feet. The two main drawer sections of the desk, (joined together by a central wooden crossbar), support the original, rectangular 'Vitrex' glass top. This early production 'toughened' glass shows the 'clamp' marks on one side where it was removed from the furnace during manufacturing process. The lower right hand drawer can also be locked - a working key is provided.

Origin: Italy Period: 1950-1979 Materials: Walnut, Glass, Brass Condition: Good. Wear consistent with age and use. Original Vitrex glass top has scratches and imperfections consistent with its age. This early 'toughened' glass also has small clamp marks on one side where it was removed from the furnace during manufacture.
