Description
A refined and highly versatile example of mid-century Brazilian modern design, this lift-top desk combines sculptural proportions with thoughtful functionality. Crafted in richly figured Brazilian rosewood (Jacarandá), the piece is elevated on sharply tapered legs that give the compact case a light, architectural presence.
The design centers around a clever lift-top writing surface that opens to reveal a discreet storage compartment and secondary work shelf. When closed, the piece reads as a streamlined console; when opened, it functions comfortably as a writing desk or vanity. This adaptable design allows it to work beautifully as a desk, dressing table, or compact sideboard, making it particularly well suited for contemporary interiors where versatility and efficient scale are valued.
The rosewood veneer displays striking natural grain movement with warm amber and chocolate tones typical of high-quality Brazilian hardwoods used in mid-century production. The wood has been carefully refinished to highlight its depth and character while preserving the clean modernist lines of the piece.
Elegant, practical, and visually light in proportion, this desk exemplifies the intelligent craftsmanship and understated sophistication that define Brazilian modern furniture of the 1950s. -
