Description
These distinctive side tables were designed by Nerone Ceccarelli, an Italian designer associated with experimental and sculptural approaches to material in the 1970s. A founding member of the Gruppo NP2 collective, Ceccarelli explored the expressive and tactile potential of surfaces, often working at the intersection of design, art, and architecture. Each table presents a carefully composed top in natural stone, divided into geometric sections that contrast smooth polished areas with deeply textured, almost carved surfaces. The interplay of pattern and relief reflects a broader Italian interest in material expressiveness during the period, where design moves beyond function into a more conceptual and spatial dimension. Priced as a set of two.
The use of stone combined with artisanal surface treatment situates these works within a lineage of Italian radical and post-modern experimentation. The juxtaposition of refined and raw textures reveals a deliberate investigation into surface as structure, while the geometric segmentation lends a rhythmic, almost architectural clarity. In this context, Ceccarelli’s work can be understood as part of a wider movement redefining furniture as an autonomous sculptural presence, where texture and geometry become central to the object’s identity. -
