Description
Rare Early Osvaldo Borsani Walnut Cocktail Table, 1940s A striking and rare early work by Italian master designer Osvaldo Borsani, this substantial walnut cocktail table features a circular clear thick glass top resting on three thick, architectural panels joined by an exquisite undulating stretcher—deeply hand-carved with remarkable craftsmanship. The sculptural base radiates a quiet strength, balancing bold geometry with organic movement.
Crafted in the 1940s, this piece hails from Borsani's formative years working within his father’s atelier, Atelier Varedo, where he and his twin brother Fulgenzio produced refined furniture rooted in the Art Deco tradition. These early works were designed for a sophisticated clientele, showcasing luxurious materials and precise detailing. Borsani would later go on to co-found Tecno, a company that defined Italian modernism in the second half of the 20th century, but this table offers a glimpse into the artisanal elegance that preceded his industrial evolution.
This cocktail table brings timeless presence to a room—its expressive base visible through the floating glass top creates an open, sculptural moment in any setting. Whether anchoring a curated salon-style seating area or lending gravitas to a minimalist interior, the table’s refined silhouette and deep walnut tones elevate the space with historical resonance and understated drama. It pairs seamlessly with both period and contemporary pieces, offering versatility without sacrificing statement. -
