Description
A Rare Italian Mid-Century Modern Console / Writing Table by Ico Parisi, Italy circa 1960. The console has a exceptional, modernist form while being accented with diverse, complimentary materials and elegant workmanship. Most most modernist pieces prefer pure symmetry; however in this piece, "balance is achieved via imbalance". There is a single drawer on one side and the top trails off to slight angle. Meanwhile, it is set on tall legs which allow the piece to breathe and is finished with a backing panel which rests above and below the top further creating a captivating aesthetic. The console wood is a beautiful veneers of hardwoods and is offset with black enameled steel legs and brass feet. Overall, the composition is a surprising delight of exquisite form and materials. Ico Parisi was one of the most important creators in Italy in the 1950-1960 period. His individuality and wit shines through in this exceptional, unique piece. Dimensions: Total Height including the wall panel is 35.5"; the height of table top alone is 31.75" x Width 28.25 x Depth 10.25".
