Description
Constructed during the nineteenth century, this pair of half-moon tables was made in England and follows the demi-lune form of the English Georgian tradition. Each table presents a semicircular top designed to sit flush against a wall, and the two placed together form a complete circle. The warm tone and close grain of mahogany suit the restrained classical lines of the type, which rest on tapering or turned legs. Tables of this form were used in halls, between windows, or flanking a doorway, providing a surface for lighting or display without occupying a deep footprint. As a matched pair, they allow balanced placement at either side of an entrance or seating group. Their nineteenth-century date and mahogany construction give them period character, and the versatile demi-lune form allows them to work within both traditional and plainer modern interiors as occasional or console tables.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
