Fine pair of Regency Rosewood and Bronze Mounted Writing / Games Table rectangular with bronze gallery and ratcheted writing surface over a frieze containing drawers and a game board, raised on a trestle base with saber legs mounted with leaf form mounts.
Wear consistent with age and use. Raised section of desktop when down is: 20.38 D x 26.38 W x 30 H. Very good condition. A fine piece. Provenance ; Sold Christies New York May 22nd 2002 , Property From The Estate Of Doris Merrill Magowan for 41,825 for one. Also anonymous sale, Sotheby Parke Bernet Inc, New York , May 15 1976. Acquired by Devenish & Co, Inc, NY 1978. Very similar table illustrated in Ackermann's The Repository of Arts, January 1814. -
