Description
One of the most striking designs from Cityscape series by Paul Evans, this multifaceted table base from PE 300 series features a combination of brass and walnut burls panels and individual pattern configuration that is desired by the design collectors. The series, circa 1970s, was made by Paul Evans Studio for Directional with extensive handwork involved for cutting, beveling and fitting the surface panels.
The table base can be used as a bespoken console table or a large dining table that supports glass tops of a range of sizes,
The measurement of the base itself is 53 W x 21 D x 28 H in. It can support a glass top up to 48 by 96 inches.
A mindful restoration on this piece was performed to maintains its vintage attraction. The work includes recoating and relacquer some brass panels and replacing one panel as well as restoring a few small chips on the wood toward the base. Maintain patina on the brass panel, visible on the detail photos.
Please do not expect new or like new condition in PE cityscape pieces, as that would be anti-nature of the materials he used. This piece presents beautifully as a vintage specimen and should be loved as so. -
