Description
Surface dimension and depth ground elegant curving lines and a waterfall edge in this gracefully majestic shou sugi ban-style console. The ebony finish and wire- brush textured surface evokes the Japanese wood burning technique, shou sugi ban or yakisugi. Crafted from a solid beam of sustainably harvested Ponderosa Pine, the design boldly enunciates the beauty of the beams as the eye is led across and over the distinctive terrain. The carving-play and tonal staining create high and low points that catch light and shadow to dramatic effect. This streamlined form lends itself to varying environments, imparting character and impact while anchoring a space - becoming a true heirloom.
Our skilled artisans carefully shape and hand work the timber, notching and carving each indent and plane. The inherent knots and cracks of the wood species are retained and enhanced. This careful artistry creates an impactful perimeter within a sophisticated design that enhances residential, hospitality, or corporate environments in this contract-grade piece. The unique finish is inspired by Shou Sugi Ban, a traditional Japanese wood preservation technique that involves charring the surface of wood to enhance its durability, weather resistance, and aesthetic appeal. This process creates a distinctive textured finish, ranging from a deep blackened surface to a subtle char, highlighting the natural grain.
Naturally Unique | This style is built from a solid log of wood. Knots, cracks, coloration and grain pattern will vary by piece. Bowties may be present. These attributes amplify the organic origins - enhancing the proportions, emphasizing the lines, and imparting character. Each piece is one-of-a-kind and may vary from the images as shown. This is the pedigree of our solid wood furniture.
