ALCHEMY: THE ART OF PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE written by Evan Lobel with Kelvin LaVerne, published by Pointed Leaf Press in 2024, examples of Chan tables shown in the section on Historical Civilizations on pages 44-49. The caption from the LaVerne catalog reads, “Chinese artistry at its peak under the Chan Dynasty, is recreated in this intricately carved design. We see peasants carrying a sacred gift to the Emperor’s child. Delicately wrought leaves and figures, combine with a rich variety of multicolored patinas to create the Chinoiserie top. The design is credited as inspiring and evoking French and English periods of furniture.” -
