Description
Rare and important hand-welded and patinated bronze sculpture dining table “Symphony” with glass top by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, American 1970’s (signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne”). According to Kelvin LaVerne, only 3 were made. Philip and Kelvin LaVerne often used the arts as their inspiration; and music served as inspiration for several of their works. It was inspired by a symphony by Beethoven. This piece has a physical harmony and balance which is extraordinary. This table is a LaVerne masterpiece. This table can accommodate almost any size glass top.

ALCHEMY: THE ART OF PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE written by Evan Lobel with Kelvin LaVerne, published by Pointed Leaf Press in 2024, this table is shown on pages 192-193 in the section titled The Brazed Series. The caption reads, “The SYMPHONY dining table, hand-brazed in patinated bronze with green patina and a with glass top, was created in the 1970s. The base of this important sculpture was inspired by a curved line drawn by Beethoven on the manuscript for Eroica after he removed its dedication to Napoleon Bonaparte. It was originally dedicated to Napoleon Bonaparte as Beethoven was an admirer until Napoleon declared himself emperor.”
