Rare and unique large coffee table with the "Marriage Whirl" motif in patinated bronze and pewter with hand painted enamels on a hand-brazed bronze base by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960s (signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” on top). It’s a very unusual form and was done as a special order. The shape and scale are extraordinary.

Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, Sculpture III paper catalog published in the 1960's, on page 28 there is a description of the Marriage Whirl: A bronze casting...inlaid with pewter, enhanced with natural patinas. The Oriental motif depicts an ancient ceremony of great happiness."
