Description
A 1960s Philip and Kelvin LaVerne "Classical" coffee table, this acid-etched bronze table has a fluted frame and legs. It is signed "Philip and Kelvin LaVerne." The fluted edge and legs have block corners and the table top depicts Moses and The Ten Commandments.
Philip and Kelvin LaVerne were a New York based father and son team who designed and produced furniture and decorative arts during the 1950s to the 1970s. Philip studied under the Ashcan School Realist John Sloan while Kelvin studied Modernism at New York Parsons School of Design. Their preferred choice of material was metal, in particular enameled bronze over pewter which was then acid etched and patinated. Each piece has its own unique finish and style. -
