Description
Pierre Chapo T21D Dining Table in Solid Elm, France 1960s
This table is in very good vintage condition and belongs to the best Chapo has created. Although very sturdy the clever design of the legs, makes it elegant and pleasant to watch. The use of the big pieces of elm wood, that has a nice grain in this version, gives the table a very natural feeling. The visible joints of the wood at the side of the top, are a wonderful detail and very typical for the work of Pierre Chapo.
About the artist:
Pierre Chapo who was born into a family of craftsmen in Paris, was greatly inspired by designers Charlotte Perriand and Le Corbusier, as well as the Bauhaus movement. His modernist designs were heavily focused on craftsmanship. His passion for wood can be seen in his seminal works like the S11 Chair, the T22 L’Oeil Coffee Table, the R08 Sideboard, R16 Sideboard and the T21 dining table.
