Description

A very rare, beautifully curved Senior Officer's desk from the Chandigarh High Court.

In 1950, the world renowned architect Le Corbusier was asked to design the capital of the states of Haryana and Punjab in the newly independent India. Le Corbusier designed the master plan and a number of buildings. Pierre Jeanneret, his cousin, served as the site architect and was responsible for all the furniture or 'Equipment' as Le Corbusier prefered to call it. For this project they stepped away from mass produced steel and relied on the skills of local craftsmen. Jeanneret also designed several buildings for the city.
