Description
Ralph Lauren Mahogany campaign desk. This beautiful brass mounted mahogany desk was fashioned after the British campaign furniture made from 1740 to 1914. See "British Campaign Furniture Elegance under Canvas 1740-1914" by Nicholas A. Brawer to see similar furniture styles and to read more about the movement. This desk retains the solid brass Ralph Lauren seals. The top section is easily removed so the base can be used by itself. The desk measures 36 and one half inches high, 42 and one quarter inches wide, and 29 inches deep. When the secretary section is removed, the desk measures 31 inches to the top of its gallery, and 27 inches to the writing surface. The hand tooled leather top measures 14 and one half inches deep. All the drawers are dovetailed and the base has a tubular solid brass stretcher connecting the X- legs, brass handles and feet caps. Ralph Lauren introduced his furniture line in the early 1980's.
