Rare French Mid-Century Suspended Organic Form Coffee Table

    A rare and important French Mid-Century Modern cocktail table. This exceptional piece features an organic form top suspended from 3 curved, organic form wrought iron supports This unique support system renders the experience of the table floating in space while the organic nature of the top and supports heightens the subtle intensity of the piece. Simultaneously, the open framework of the supports creates a unique transparency. The table is composed of hand wrought iron and hand patinated in a shade of green. The top is composed of a black glass-like material. The total height is 20" including the extensions of the frame. In addition to its rare form and beauty, the large size allows the piece to be entirely functional for contemporary standards.

    Jean Royere was the most important designer in France in the 1950 period, he was a master of organic form.

    References: The "Flaque" model was made by Jean Royere in 1947-48. The piece presented here stands fully as a unique, original piece.
