DOT EGGSHELL

The eggshell used by Reda Amalou is a precious and refined material, offering a result that is both subtle and spectacular. It is made from real duck eggshells, carefully selected for their whiteness and unique crackled texture. After a meticulous preparation process, including washing, removal of the inner membranes, and sieving the fragments by size, each tiny piece is delicately hand-placed onto a fresh lacquer layer, edge to edge, like a mosaic. Once the composition is completed, the fragments are sanded down and overed
with multiple layers of lacquer, ensuring a perfectly smooth surface. A final layer of transparent lacquer fills the gaps, enhancing the depth and finesse of the pattern. The brown eggshell, on the other hand, is not the result of added color but rather a roasting process, which gives it its natural and warm patina.
