Description
La Table Vrillée or Twisted Table is a rare and only furniture design executed by Mouille. Presented for the first time in 1962 at the prestigious Salon des Arts Ménagers, this unique work fascinated by its audacity and technical mastery. With only around thirty original pieces produced – barely ten of which are still known today – the Table Vrillée has never been reissued until now. Its return to production by Editions Serge Mouille is a significant event in the world of design.
A SCULPTURAL AND TIMELESS AESTHETIC
The Table Vrillée perfectly illustrates Serge Mouille’s artistic vision: an object at the crossroads of art and design, where every detail reflects a perfect balance between aesthetics and technique. This table is inspired by the designer’s research into forms in space, which he called his monotypes-stabiles-mobiles. It unfurls its 12 steel arms, arranged like a chandelier and twisted into spirals. These elegant curves, combined with the oval glass top, create a subtle interplay of movement and lightness, transforming this piece of furniture into a veritable functional sculpture. Serge Mouille described this creation as ‘one of the most extraordinary things’ he had ever made.
A RE-EDITION FAITHFUL TO THE HERITAGE
The Serge Mouille manufacturer is reissuing this table with the utmost respect for the company’s craftsmanship. Each piece is made by hand in their workshop in Bézu-Saint-Germain with exceptional technical precision. The dimensions and materials remain faithful to the original model, with only the finish changing: black or grey painted legs.
A RARE AND PRECIOUS OBJECT
As of 2025, the Table Vrillée is now available, numbered, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. This new edition offers a unique opportunity to own a functional work of art.
