Description
Elegant rectangular occasional table in richly decorated dark brown lacquer, featuring an evocative Chinoiserie landscape rendered in gilt decoration. The top depicts a stylized mountainous landscape with flowering plants, delicate branches, birds and exotic vegetation, framed by an ornamental gilt border with scrolling motifs.
The apron and legs are executed in matching dark lacquer, with restrained molded decoration and slightly tapered feet. The refined combination of dark lacquer and shimmering gilt chinoiserie ornament gives the piece a sophisticated Orientalist character, typical of European interpretations of Asian decorative arts.
A particularly decorative and versatile piece, suitable for a Grand Tour, chinoiserie or eclectic interior, as a side table, occasional table or decorative console.
