Description
A Swedish Rococo period painted wood two-piece tall secretary from the late 18th century, with bonnet top, two doors, slanted front desk and drawers on bracket feet. Created in Sweden during the last quarter of the 18th century, this tall two-part Rococo secretary features a molded bonnet top, sitting above two doors with arched motifs echoing the cornice's silhouette. These doors open to reveal a painted interior with nice distressing and inner shelves offering storage possibilities. This upper section is sitting above a slanted front opening to a desk with multiple inner drawers surrounding a central door. The writing area rests on two pull outs. The lower section is made of a narrow drawer, followed by four additional ones (two small ones over two larger ones). The ensemble is raised on bracket feet. The secretary is painted in a soft color typical of the Swedish taste for light palettes aiming at brightening the rooms during the long and dark Scandinavian winters. With its tall proportions and convenient features, this Swedish Rococo period secretary circa 1790 will make for a great addition to any office, living room or foyer.
