Description
Table, United States, 1930s
Chromium-plated tubular steel, lacquered wood.
30 x 29 7/8 x 14 5/8 in. (76.25 x 76 x 37 cm)
Manufactured by Romitos Donnelly Mfg. Co., Ravenna, Ohio. With firm's metal label.
The Donnelly Mfg. Co. was founded in 1898 and remained active, under various company names, until around the third quarter of the 20th century. The design of this table, along with the “Romitos Donnelly Mfg. Co.” label, suggests a date of production in the 1930s. The firm was known for its furnishings for offices, salons and barbershops. A 1948 catalogue illustrates a table of similar form described as a “reception room table.” The dimensions of this example make it well suited as a side table, small console or desk. -
