The Hague School Round Coffee In Oak, Walnut And Ebony, Netherlands 1930s

$ 2,630
  • Description
    The Hague School round coffee in oak, walnut and ebony.  This coffee table has a calm and balanced appearance and is a beautiful example of the The Hague School. This is the counterpart of the Amsterdam School, which is characterized by fewer frills and details and more quiet round shapes. Definitely not an austere look but a bit more subdued compared to its Amsterdam counterpart. The size of this table can be positioned somewhere in the middle and is made in a high-quality manner. A set of four oak legs at the top slope nicely toward the upper top. From the start of the legs, at about twenty centimeters, we find the round shelve that seems to clamp itself between them but is supported by brackets attached with screws. This shelve offers a lot of space to store your things. A relatively thick top is veneered with walnut all around. On the top itself we see an interesting and refined processing of veneers. The oak section consists of four parts and is decorated in the middle with a strip of ebony that forms a square. In the middle of that square are mirrored sections of walnut veneer processed. An elegant spectacle that is very much back in vogue. The condition of the table is sublime and the warm patina contributes incredibly to it. Of course, given the age of the table, some scratches and other blemishes are visible but they do not predominate. At most, they add charm.
