England c. 1790
Rare Sheraton Period Satinwood Pembroke - Side Table also known as " Surprise Table " of extraordinary quality and ingenuity of design - constructed from the finest West Indian Timbers. This looks like a standard form of Pembroke Table deceivingly having only one rising flap , while the other has a hidden button mechanism which reveals when opened a very private and most useful compartment, also having the most wonderful untouched patina.
