Description
Unique Octagonal Coffee Table in Solid Oak with End Grain Wood 1950s
A truly fantastic Dutch cabinetmaker coffee table in solid oak with end grain oak. The Netherlands, late 1950s.
Features a very distinct octagonal top with inlaid end grain oak wood on a pedestal base and a large round plinth. Very interesting and unique combination of geometrical shapes - it works wonderfully and we’ve never seen anything like it. It’s both monumental and elegant, and shows a distinct sculptural grandeur.
The wood shows a subtle patina and a warm and inviting color. The octagonally inlaid end grain wood is beautiful and adds a little extra cachet to this piece.
Comes directly from the grandson of the original maker and has been in the family for around 70 years.
