Description
This bold and materially unique Mid-Century Modernist Tessellated Slate and Bronze Inlay Cocktail Table signed V Ramburrem originates from South Africa, Circa 1985. Features a substantial geometric bronze base supporting the top surface, which is lined in oak circumscribing the inlayed detailing. An array of geometrically cut stone panels in a variety of colors are used to achieve the deep naturalistic feel of the piece, with two rivers of red iron oxide and yellow umber stone surrounded by deep muted violets and raw umber hued slate. Within the red flowing shapes bronze gears and other metalic elements are inlayed, achieving a brilliant balance between the natural and the man made materials, patinated and blending seamlessly, overall highly dynamic and cohesive. A wonderful piece and a brilliant example of V Ramburrem's practice, this cocktail table will style excellent in a wide array of spaces and settings, from Mid-Century Modernist to Brutalist and Contemporary Interiors.
