Description
Rare executive desk designed by Vittorio Dassi and produced in Italy during the 1950s.
This sculptural desk exemplifies the refined elegance and innovative craftsmanship that characterize Italian mid-century design. Its distinctive silhouette is defined by a shaped wooden structure with soft, flowing lines, enhanced by a floating glass top that reveals the sophisticated construction beneath.
A particularly striking feature is the presence of two shaped openings integrated into the top, finely finished with wooden edging, allowing a view of the lower section of the desk and emphasizing the architectural quality of the design. The front is fitted with four drawers, two on each side, adorned with elegant brass shell-shaped handles. The upper drawers retain their original locks, adding both functionality and decorative appeal.
The warm wood grain, combined with the transparency of the glass and the refined brass details, creates a harmonious balance between luxury and modernity, making this piece a remarkable example of Italian executive furniture from the post-war period.
The desk has been recently polished with traditional shellac and remains in very good vintage condition, showing only minor signs of age and use consistent with its history. The glass top is also in good condition with light wear commensurate with age.
An exceptional statement piece, ideal for a sophisticated office, study, or interior seeking an authentic and highly distinctive example of Italian design from the 1950s. -
