Description
This is a wonderful small period William and Mary Oak Writing Table that dates to c. 1690 - 1700. The table features solid oak construction, retaining its original square pegs. The carved and turned legs, shaped x-stretcher, scolloped skirt and field paneled drawer fronts are all design elements of William and Mary pieces. This is a provincial table and it retains is wonderful old natural patina--the top has seen nearly 350 years of use and has acquired a deep soul. The drawer has had minor restorations commensurate with its heavy use. The appropriate brass hardware is old, but not original. This wonderful little table would make the perfect side table or bedside table--it is very sturdy and ready for another 100+ years of use.
