Description
An elegant Italian 19th century work table, beautifully crafted in walnut with refined cherry wood inlays, embodying the graceful transition between Charles X and Louis Philippe taste. The rectangular top, softly shaped with rounded corners, opens above a practical frieze drawer, making the piece as functional as it is decorative.
Its most striking feature is the exceptional carved base: scrolling lyre-form supports richly adorned with acanthus-inspired volutes and joined by a sculptural stretcher that gives the table remarkable architectural movement. The warm walnut patina, enriched by time, highlights the depth of the carving and the subtle contrast of the cherry inlaid details.
Elegant curled feet complete the dynamic silhouette, lending the piece a distinctly sculptural presence from every angle. Both a practical work table and a highly decorative accent, it serves beautifully as a writing table, side table, or collector’s statement piece within refined traditional or contemporary interiors.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
