This pin is in the Native American style of silver overlay with an inset of a fine turquoise stone. It has the hallmark of Frank Patania (Sr) who worked from the 1940s-early 1960s. Frank Patania (1899-1964) is a highly recognized jeweler who came originally from Messina Italy.
Patania opened a shop in Santa Fe in 1927, calling it The Thunderbird Shop, and he located it right next to the Santa Fe Railroad ticket office. His jewelry became widely recognized and demand for his work grew. This pin has been in a Private Collection for many years and is fresh to the market. -
