Description
Created in the 1950s, the Van Cleef & Arpels Paris ruby and diamond clip earrings were manufactured by Pery & Fils. Each is designed as a ribbed gold leaf centering a line of round diamonds, layered over a field of round-cut rubies, with omega clip backs. Sculpted to frame the face in gold and touches of vivid red, these beautiful, stylized earrings are a classic mid-century Van Cleef & Arpels design.

Earrings of the 1950s-1960s took on a multitude of forms, from cascades to these ear hugging clips. In the tradition of passmenterie, gold was often worked into intriguing patterned surfaces. Naturalism characterized many of the most enduring forms, such as these stylized leaves. Traditional manufacturing jewelers such as Pery & Fils and Georges Lenfant continued to manufacture gold jewelry to the highest standards for Van Cleef & Arpels as well as Mauboussin, Cartier and Boucheron. -
