Description
Created in the 1980s, this unusual early Bulgari "Doppio" ring is composed of pink tourmaline, peridot, and 18K gold. The twin stone form is set with a cabochon pink tourmaline and peridot, completed by a double bombé band accented by contoured lines in high relief. Of satisfying weight and rich color, this sleek period ring dates from the firm's iconic period when Andy Warhol referred to the jewelry in the Bulgari salon as "the best exhibition of contemporary art."
Size: 6.25
Materials: 1 cabochon tourmaline (approximate total weight 1.80 carats); 1 cabochon peridot (approximate total weight 2.00 carats); 18K Gold
Gram Weight: 25.3 grams

In the 1980s, as Amanda Triossi explains in her 2009 exhibition catalog, Bulgari continued to win the patronage of celebrity clients from the worlds of entertainment and art. They loved the jewelry's "volume, strong colors, clean lines...and awareness of antiquity". Led thoughtfully by Nicola Bulgari and other family members, Bulgari's style evolution was original and highly intentional. When interviewed by Nicola Bulgari, Andy Warhol explained "I think your jewelry is the 1980s." -
