Holmegaard
Danish, 1823
Danish glass maker Holmegaard was founded in 1823. The company was founded by Countess Henriette Danneskiold-Samsøe and her husband Count Christian Danneskiold-Samsøe, and it is located in the small town of Holmegaard in southern Denmark.
Holmegaard initially produced hand-blown glassware, such as bottles and window panes. However, in the 20th century, the company shifted its focus to creating high-quality glassware for everyday use, as well as for special occasions.
Over the years, Holmegaard has collaborated with many prominent designers and artists, including Per Lütken, Jacob E. Bang, and Olafur Eliasson. Other well liked artists include Otto Brauer, Michael Bang and Anja Kjaer. Some of the company's most popular products include wine glasses, vases, bowls, and candleholders, all of which are crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail.
Today, Holmegaard is owned by the Royal Scandinavia Group, and it continues to produce a wide range of glass products, including wine glasses, tumblers, bowls, vases, and candleholders. Many of the designs are minimalist and elegant, with a focus on functionality and simplicity.
