In 1902, William H. Gunlocke and four others acquired a factory in Wayland, NY and established the W H Gunlocke Chair Co. They specialized in seating for homes, lounges and libraries. The company expanded throughout the 20th century receiving awards for innovation and technological advances. In 1989, HON Industries (HNI Corp.) acquired Gunlocke. W.H. Gunlocke chairs remain popular today.
