Vicke Lindstrand

Swedish, 1904 - 1983
Vicke Lindstrand (1904-1983) was a Swedish glass artist and designer. He was born in Gothenburg, Sweden, and studied at the Stockholm School of Arts, Crafts and Design. Lindstrand worked for the Swedish glass company Orrefors from 1928 to 1940, and then for Kosta Boda from 1950 to 1973.
 
Lindstrand was known for his innovative designs and techniques, and he played a significant role in the development of Swedish glass art in the mid-20th century. He worked in a variety of styles, including Art Deco, Modernism, and Scandinavian design.
 
Some of Lindstrand's most famous works include his "Ariel" and "Kraka" series of glass vases for Orrefors, which feature intricate engraved designs inspired by Swedish folklore and mythology. He also designed a range of tableware, lighting, and sculptures in glass.
 
In addition to his work in glass, Lindstrand was also a painter, illustrator, and graphic designer. He was awarded numerous honors and awards throughout his career, including the Order of Vasa in 1938 and the Prince Eugen Medal in 1953.
