Claude Lalanne (1924-2019) was a French artist and sculptor known for her unique and whimsical works that often incorporated elements of nature and the natural world. She was born in Paris and studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs, where she met her husband and artistic collaborator François-Xavier Lalanne. Together, they became known as Les Lalanne and created a wide range of sculptures, furniture pieces, and functional objects, such as mirrors, lamps, and even garden gates.
Claude Lalanne's work often featured organic shapes, textures, and materials, such as bronze, copper, and resin, and incorporated natural forms such as leaves, animals, and insects. Her sculptures were known for their playful and surreal quality, blurring the lines between art and function.
