Meissen Porcelain Figurine of a Boy Cupid / Cherub Traveller

    This beautifully modeled figure, with his comically oversized black hat, is Cupid / Cherub / Angel disguised as a Wanderer. In the left hand he is holding a brown walking stick with a small red lantern attached and a little yellow pouch in the right hand. Bottom is properly marked Meissen with cross swards, Germany and under glaze in print number 127-I and 4-Y.

    Meissen porcelain was the first European hard-paste porcelain. Its signature logo, the crossed swords, was introduced in 1720, and is one of the oldest trademarks in existence. Some of the most popular and collectable figurines are children represented as a street traders, workers and cupids. The small figurines where decorated in delicate pastel colors.
