Description
The first of several faience factories was established at Le Nove, near Bassano (West of Venice and North of Vicenza), in 1728 by Giovanni Battista Antonibon (d.1738), whose descendants ran it until late in the 19th century. Wares from the mid 18th century and earlier included attractive maiolica dishes and tureens modeled in a slightly rustic Rococo style and decorated in high temperature colors. The production of porcelain in a hybrid paste began in 1762 under Pasquale Antonibon: delicate teapots and cups are of a simple form and often painted with characteristically Venetian masquerade figures.
