Description
Horst Bruning for Kill International, daybed model 6915, in steel and leather, by Germany, 1960s.
Well designed daybed (Model No. 6915) by Horst Bruning, produced by Kill International. The steel frame provides a stunning contrast with the comfortable black leather mattress, which is till completely original showing an elegant patina to the surface. Due the use of small black spacers, a floating expression is created. Bruning worked together with Fabricius & Kastholm, and shared many ideas with them which you can clearly tell by the quality of the furniture. Bruning was educated in Hamburg, Copenhagen and Stockholm, after which he started his own studio in Stuttgart in 1963. He implements the Bauhaus idea: minimal in form, functional in application and use, durable in practice, timeless, but nevertheless show the spirit of time. This daybed competes with pieces from the same era, like for example, the PK80 daybed by Poul Kjaerholm. -
