Description
Gorgeous pen and ink study of the famous marble statue at the Vatican entitled "Gruppo del Laocoonte." Set in an 1830 Charles X frame with original bronze details, it depicts the Trojan Laooconte from Virgils's Aeneid being attacked by sea serpents. On the actual statue at the Vatican, he is surrounded by his children too.
