A fantastic stirrup pottery with bi-color surface decoration from Pre-Columbian Moche Culture 100-900AD, located in nowadays Northern coast of Peru. Moche pottery is known for its exquisite depiction of realistic portraits of both human and animals. This piece features a feline creature likely a jaguar perched on top of a human as its prey. While realistic in certain aspect, the potter made wonderful stylized details on the interplay of the two characters and more importantly, the surface of the body with slightly bulbous protrusions in alternate coloring. Dynamic from different angles, it is a wonderful piece of Moche art in a delightful form.
