Victorian Mahogany Partners Desk, c. 1840-60
-
Description
Victorian mahogany partners desk, the green tooled leather top with carved edge over three drawers; the pedestals with three graduated doors to one side and doors to the other, opening to a single shelf, all on bracket feet with egg and dart carving and brass casters.
The opening measures 24" x 24".
This beautiful desk has sustained 150+ years of honest wear and tear, maintained by diligent restoration along the way. The handles are replaced. The bottom to the center drawer is also replaced, as evidenced by the pale poplar versus the darker mahogany in the others. Some of the drawer dividers are additions- some being thicker than others. Finally, the bottom 2" of the feet have been restored: notice the slight difference in color. -
