Description
A refined pair of 19th-century French Louis XVI bergère armchairs retaining their beautifully aged original painted finish and newly upholstered in crisp white sateen cotton fabric.
These elegant fauteuils feature classic Louis XVI neoclassical lines with shaped oval backs, gracefully scrolled arms, fluted tapering legs, and finely carved ribbon and floral detailing throughout the frames. Particularly noteworthy is the preserved original paint surface, exhibiting the soft patina and subtle distressing only achieved through genuine age and use.
The carved frames are accented with decorative nailhead trim and showcase exceptional craftsmanship, including fluted rails, block corner rosettes, and delicately carved arm supports. Their generous proportions and deep seats provide both comfort and sophisticated presence.
Freshly upholstered in a clean neutral linen, these chairs beautifully balance formal French elegance with relaxed European country style, making them ideal for traditional, Gustavian, Swedish, French country, or transitional interiors.
An exceptional and highly versatile pair suitable for a living room, bedroom, library, or fireside seating arrangement. -
