Sigurd Persson

Sigurd Persson (1914-2003) was a Swedish industrial designer and silversmith. He is considered one of the most significant figures in Swedish design history and was instrumental in establishing the Swedish design aesthetic during the mid-20th century.
 
Persson trained as a silversmith and studied at the Konstfack School of Arts, Crafts, and Design in Stockholm. He went on to become a highly influential designer, with a career spanning more than 60 years. He worked on a wide range of projects, including industrial design, furniture design, and silverware design, and was known for his functional and minimalist approach.
 
Persson's work was characterized by its clean lines, simple forms, and use of high-quality materials such as stainless steel, silver, and glass. He was particularly known for his work in stainless steel, which he helped to popularize as a design material in Sweden.
 
Persson received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, including the Prince Eugen Medal and the Lunning Prize. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world, and is represented in the collections of several major design institutions, including the National Museum of Stockholm and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
