Rare Dining Table by Alvar Aalto in Karelian Birch
-
Description
Dining table by Alvar Aalto for Aartek, Finland 1950s.
This beautiful table consists of a big round tabletop, veneered with Karelian birch, supported by Aalto's characteristic legs of bentwood. The table has no visible stamps or labels, but according to experts we've been in touch with, it was probably made during the 1950s. The manufacturer only made a few pieces with Karelian birch, and this version with the extra leaf is very rare and hard to find.
Measurements of the table without the extra leaf: 127cm in diameter. The extra leaf measures 60cm x 127cm.
Condition: The tabletop is in excellent restored condition. The legs are slightly leaning outwards (hardly visible), which these old bent wooden legs tend to do. -
