Description
A delightful set of three figures, probably carved from either table legs or bed posts, and dating to c. 1620. These figures have been painted in the 17th century and display a naiveté consistent with regional English carving. The oak used in these carvings is exceptionally dense and probably dates to the 16th century. The two large figures are finished in round and the smaller figure, although originally probably finished in the round, has lost the rear portion.
