An Art Nouveau Rustin Vase with Shreve & Co Silver Overlay

Sold Sold
  • Description
On offer here is a porcelain vase of blue glaze with silver overlay circa 1910s in the Art Nouveau style. The peacock blue vase was made by Ruskin Pottery (1898-1935) in England and is decorated with a subtle turquoise grave leaf wreath on the shoulder and marked underneath. The silver overlay was made by by Shreve & Co in a design of curvy stems and chrysanthemum flowers, and was marked as sterling silver. Shreve & Co in San Francisco worked with many ceramic companies and studios around 1900-1910s to design and make the silver overlays. The vase is marked with the scissor logo and the WHT, which stands for William Howson Taylor.
The vase is of a strong Art Nouveau style influenced by the Japonisme movement at the time. An elegant period piece that will add a touch of history on your desk.
