Gesralt low table.
Gesralt is a barrel full of well matched contradictions. Both brutal
but elegant, heavy but light and functional but sculpture. Sment
made sure no feature on Gestalt is lavish by ruling out every idle
detail, leaving Gestalt being the embodiment of its most important
characteristic: concrete.
Sment took on the challenge to create a concrete coffee table
reduced to it's fundaments through thorough exploration of the
matter.
The choice of pigmentation and negative space give the concrete
table a surprising lightness and makes every piece unique. The
organic round shapes make Gestalt table a classic example of a
coffee table and makes the colour play coming to its own perfectly.
Gestalt table is an object, positioned low to the ground, making it a
prominent object you can’t ignore. Thanks to the well finished,
terrazzo bottom of the deconstructable table, the tabletop can be
put on its side to serve as a mere object in the room.
Gestalt is the result of mass meeting grace.
Frederik Bogaerts and Jochen Sablon take materials under their skin to feel, become and be it. Demolish, deconstruct and reassemble it. To finally gift the cleared material with a design that uplifts but not outshines the material. A Sment design gives matter the well deserved pedestal that is both functional and sculptural. -
