Japanese Ceramic Vase Meiji Period

$ 3,800
  • Description
    A ceramic vase in an elegant form and fine over glaze decoration. Japanese Kyoto ware from Meiji Period. The vase was finely decorated with low relief carving depicting bundles of pompon chrysanthemums in white and blue among flowing scrolling ribbon designs. Around the neck of the vase, four crane Mons of Mori Clan were placed in four cordial directions among cloud and pine designs. The overall design elements with a somewhat muted color palate of this piece is very wholesome and clearly done by an expertly hand. It is not signed, but we think it may be attributed to Ito Tozan.
    Two pieces by Ito Tozan I with similar decorations were in the collection of MNAAG (Guimet) Paris. Inventory no. MG 13790 an 13792.
